Our beaches
Cala es Matzoc
If you are looking for a beach that offers more than just sun and sand, Cala es Matzoc is your place. This wild cove is a silent witness to Mallorca’s history, where Mediterranean beauty meets defensive architecture.
The Albarca Tower: Sentinel of the Menorca Channel
The most emblematic feature of the area is the Albarca Tower (also known as Torre des Matzoc). Built in 1751 by order of the Artà Town Council, its function was strategic: to monitor ship movements during the British occupation of neighboring Menorca.
-
Architecture: A robust, truncated cone-shaped tower that dominates the landscape.
-
Heritage: It still preserves an original artillery cannon on its roof, offering one of the best panoramic views of Mallorca’s northeast coast.
How to get there and tips
The cove is inaccessible by car, keeping it free from crowds. The most common access is on foot via the coastal path from Cala Mitjana (about 20-30 minutes). It is a mandatory stop on the trail towards S’Arenalet d’Aubarca. As a protected natural site, there are no facilities, so carrying water and wearing proper hiking shoes is essential.
