This place offers a unique experience exploring historic trains and enjoying railway heritage, promoting education and social inclusion.

The Railway Museum of Mallorca
The railway line between Manacor and Artà, inaugurated in 1921 and suspended in June 1977, linked the Levante region and provided a response to the needs of transporting goods and people.
In 2010, the project to reopen the line began, although, due to various circumstances, the execution of the works was interrupted. Even so, stations were renovated, the route was outlined and a large warehouse of some 1,800 square metres was built in Son Carrió.
It is in this building that a museum project has been carried out and where all the historic trains that form part of the collection are kept. The restoration is the responsibility of the FERROCAIB Foundation, with the collaboration of Servicios Ferroviarios de Mallorca, owner of the space, and the Town Council of Son Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.
The Son Carrió train station building contains a multitude of stories and is home to a railway heritage that, thanks to the FERROCAIB Foundation, can be kept standing.

Two initiatives are currently underway to expand the fleet. On the one hand, the restoration of a Carde y Escoriarza passenger carriage and two Napolitans passenger carriages has been put out to tender. On the other hand, two steam locomotives will soon be added to the collection.
The idea is to have a living museum in which the railway heritage can circulate along the tracks of the Manacor-Artà line. Furthermore, it is expected to have a strong impact on the social sphere, insofar as it will create jobs for disabled people and will be an element of great economic dynamism. The museum will also have a strong educational component for the younger generations and will be an example of circular economy.
